Thanks for Being a Part of the 2008
Sonoma County Fair!
July 22 - August 4, 2008
Santa Rosa, CA
We appreciate your patronage and comments!
We are new to the community so this is our first time at the fair. I can honestly say this is the best fair we've been to, and we've been to fairs from San Diego to Wisconsin!

For those of us involved with livestock shows and showing, we could all learn a valuable lesson from the Sonoma Co. Fair. It was my pleasure to judge the market lamb and meat goat divisions and showmanship for the 2008 Sonoma Co. Fair, Santa Rosa, CA. Yes, I found excellent quality livestock at this huge county fair, just as I find at most places that have given me an opportunity to judge (I have judged from Orlando, FL, to Palmer, AK, the past six years).
What set this show apart was the support show to the youth participants. It didn’t matter if it was the FFA or 4-H division, as the finger pointed to the class winner, a huge roar and applause went up for the winner and other participants from the winner’s youth group, advisors, leaders, parents, and spectators. This was the most vocal group of supporters I have ever encountered.
I tell you, for this ol’ codger, it made my heart pound and the adrenalin flowed…
Both youth groups showed in their official uniforms. I have never seen a more impressive, clean cut group of young men and women. I did not hear one foul word, and it was nothing but “Yes, sir” and “No, sir” from these young people—and this went on for three days.
Be glad that our leaders and officials, especially in rural areas, have chosen to maintain and support the 4-H and FFA and the men and women who so dedicate their lives to leading these young people. Sonoma County: I take my hat off to you. Thanks for choosing to get involved in something so positive.
