SENIOR DAY
Friday, August 7th - Seniors 60+ only pay $5 General Admission to the Fair on the first day of Fair!
The Senior Info Fair will be held Friday, August 7th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Seniors aged 60+ get in for just $5 on Senior Day, Friday, August 7. Bowing to popular demand, the Fair will open at 10 a.m. on August 7, allowing seniors to arrive early and beat the heat. Early arrivals get an additional bonus: Get free parking in the Economy Lot on Bennett Valley Road if you arrive in the Lot before 11 a.m.!
Seniors are invited to stop by Shade Park for the Senior Info Fair and talk with service providers of interest to seniors. Visitors can get information, giveaways, and answers during this mini “fair within the Fair,” open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Organizations (both profit and non-profit) are invited to participate in this year's Sonoma County Fair Senior Day Info Fair by staffing an information table on Friday, August 7th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This is a popular event for all the seniors attending the Fair. They look forward to talking to providers (and getting free stuff!). Only organizations providing services to seniors are eligible for this program. Participants may not make sales during this event. The participation fee is $50 for non-profit organizations and $275 for for-profits.

Additional Senior Discount Days (60+) - $5 off of regular adult admission - If you can’t make it to the Fair on August 7, there are other deals for seniors at the Fair, including $5 off regular general admission Aug. 8 through 16*. Seniors can also take advantage of Food Bank Day on Monday, August 10 and get in for just $1 with three items from the Redwood Empire Food Bank’s ‘most wanted’ list. Throwback Thursday includes a $10 general admission from 12 noon to 9 p.m. on Aug. 13. *There is no additional senior discount on Aug. 10 or Aug. 13.
Food Bank Day Monday, August 10th until 6 p.m.
Bring at least 3 non-perishable(non-expired) food items from the Food Bank's 'Most Wanted List' to donate to the Redwood Empire Food Bank and receive $1 General Admission.
- Food Bank's Most Wanted List - Canned Tuna, canned chicken, peanut butter, pasta, rice, oats, dry beans, and low sugar cereal. No expired food, no glass jars, and no opened containers.
ELVIS DAY - Saturday, August 8th
Elvis is coming to the Sonoma County Fair on Saturday, August 8! All afternoon you can hang out with people dressed like Elvis, people who love Elvis, his music, and everything he stood for. The day includes an Elvis Look-Alike Contest, Elvis Trivia, and the famous “Thank You Very Much” contest. The Elvis Trivia Contest this year is a pub-style team trivia contest, so start putting your team together now! The highlight of the celebration is the Elvis Impersonation Contest. Ten Elvis impersonators will be performing with a live band, all competing for a $1,000 cash prize.
Past contestants have ranged from professional Elvis impersonators to first-time performers. But no matter who shows up to compete, you can count on a truly entertaining show! Each performer will sing a different song from Elvis’s career, all backed by the local band Buzzy & the Buzztones. Buzzy Martin and his band have a long history with this contest, and a reputation for helping each contestant sound great! SCARECROW FESTIVAL & CONTEST - Saturday, August 8th, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. - Olive Grove
Scarecrows are a major feature of Fall festivals, and scarecrow building contests are held all over the world. Many small towns and villages hold scarecrow contests and display them all over town. A Scarecrow Festival will be held at the Fair on August 9, as a part of this year’s “Festivals, Fiestas & Fun” theme. So even if you don’t have a garden to protect, there’s a reason to build a scarecrow this summer! You and your family/friends/team/company can let your imagination go wild and build scarecrows to send to the Fair for the Scarecrow Festival. Cash prizes will be awarded in adult and youth categories.
Cash prizes will be awarded for the best scarecrows. Deliver your scarecrow by August 9 or build one at the fairgrounds. Categories for group and individual scarecrows. Judging begins at 4 p.m.
1-3:30 p.m. On-The-Spot Scarecrow Making Contest
We provide everything you or your team needs to build a scarecrow. Scarecrows made at the Fair will compete separately from those brought from home.
2:30-3:00 p.m. Make Me A Scarecrow
We provide everything you need to dress a member of your group as a scarecrow. Photos will be taken, and the living scarecrows will be judged online. Winners will receive Fair tickets and more!
4 p.m. Scarecrow Festival Judging; announcement of winners to follow.
Scarecrows will remain on display until the Fair is over on August 16.
BARBIE FUN DAY - Saturday, August 15th
If you see Barbie, tell her to join us at the Fair! You’re invited to dress in your favorite pink outfit and celebrate Barbie at the Fair on Saturday, August 15. Bring Barbie (or Ken) if you want them to join in the fun. All events are open to Barbie fans of all ages, so don’t make the mistake of thinking you are too old or too young. The day will be filled with fun activities and contests, a party with pink cake, and a ‘Weird Barbie’ Making Station. Stop by Barbie Central (under the Main Grandstand) to say hello and check out last-minute additions to the Day.
Here’s the schedule so far:
2:00 p.m. Make a Weird Barbie — Under the Main Grandstand
Start with a used Barbie. Use the materials provided, transform the Barbie into an official ‘weird Barbie.’ (If you have any used Barbies or clothes to contribute, bring them along!)
4:00 p.m. Weird Barbie Fashion Show — Park Stage
Show off the Weird Barbie you created at Make a Weird Barbie.
4:30 p.m. Barbie High Heel Races — Family Fun Stage
For this contest, you run down the street (not too far!) in high heels. Bring heels if you have them, and we will round up some extras for those who don’t have any with them that day.
6 p.m. Barbie Team Trivia Contest — TBD
This is like pub trivia – your team will answer questions about Barbie. There will also be questions about the different characters in Barbie’s life over the years. (for ex: Who is Skipper?) Contestants of all ages are welcome – kids, adults, and those in between. Having kids on your team may be an advantage, but watching the movie will help! Check-in starts at 6 p.m. Limited space available, so plan to arrive on time.
